Air Conditioning Systems – How They Work

Temperature

Heat is produced in many ways and is all around us. Some heat sources include body heat, lighting, electronic equipment, ovens, radiators, walls, and insulation. Let’s not forget that the sun is a primary source of heat. We need a certain level of heat to keep us warm, especially in the colder months. We want our homes and workspace to be the correct temperature, and this means not too hot, not too cold, and not humid.

The Refrigeration Cycle

The heat inside your building is transferred outside through the refrigerant. The refrigerant absorbs the heat and moves it through a closed system out of your house. It then returns to continue the cycle. To reach the refrigerant, the hot air enters a vent over the cold evaporator coil. This is inside your property. This refrigerant changes the air to a gaseous state and passes it to the compressor.

The compressor tightly squeezes the gas to raise the temperature and pressure of the refrigerant. This makes it ready for condensing. The refrigerant reaches the outdoor condenser. Exposure to outdoor air absorbs its heat and lowers its temperature. The refrigerant then returns to liquid form from gas and is transferred back indoors to repeat the cycle. This will continue until the ideal temperature is achieved in the required indoor space. The thermostat will then temporarily shut down the air conditioning system.

Air Conditioning System Installation and Maintenance

It is important to ensure that your air conditioning system is installed and maintained by an air conditioning specialist, such as Longwine Services. A professional will have a complete understanding of the intricate process each part of your air conditioning system needs to go through. They will advise on the appropriate checks and maintenance required for you to get the absolute best from your air conditioning.

Tampering with your air conditioning system yourself could cause more harm than good. If you are in a new property and are unsure of the system installed, contact an AC professional for advice.

A well-maintained and fully functioning air conditioning system is a fantastic asset for any building, always keeping your indoor temperature comfortable and healthy. Air conditioning is beneficial all year through and is a valuable investment for any building.
